You should begin seeing a lot of ‘synthetic’ wine corks soon. Too bad cork trees don’t reproduce as fast as humans.

I don't buy much wine (my parents make their own, so I just get some from them!), but I have noticed that MASI uses synthetic corks.

Actually this is a case of improvement. The synthetic cork can be produced with more uniform and better properties for the application than the natural product. There are no two pieces of cork exactly alike.
