Car repair in order
2 Attachment(s)
It have been lucky for many years that I have not been involved in any kind of auto accident. :car: My luck ran out the night before last on my way home from work. :(
While pulling away from a stop light I was suddenly struck hard on the passenger side of the car. :yikes: I was in the outside lane and was watching the cars behind me so to move over to the right before the next light a block away when, *BLAMM*…. The car shook and my head snapped right, to only see the flash of a white spot moving away. WTF?!?!?!?! With the cars suddenly stopped, I pulled over and got out to see the damage wasn't really that bad. All the damage was confined to the front passenger door, not a scratch in front of or behind it. :) Mirror torn off, door dented and calling card stuck under the door handle, ….. and considering I was hit by a deer, it was really very little when knowing what damage CAN be done by such a collision. |

While encounters between deer and cars is not uncommon, it is where this took place. The middle of a big city with nothing around for miles in all directions but more city is not the normal habitat for deer around here. E. 185 St with it's four gas stations adjacent the interstate freeway and all businesses down the street and nothing but houses on city lots is the setting.
I took pics from both sides of the freeway and marked my location when my hitchhiker tried to get in the night before. So what unexpected encounters have you had with nature? |
That's more hair than your car has seen in years! :D
I'm glad you weren't hurt, and that the damage was as minimal as it was. You were very lucky. Many of you know that Mrs. WI has been driving a school bus for about 11 years now and her scariest interaction with wildlife took place three or so years ago when on a dark fall morning she had a wild turkey crash through her windshield. The turkey was killed on impact and the windshield obviously needed to be replaced. As did the underwear of the driver. |
I've been lucky.
The only animal I've ever run over was a female squirrel. |
And you know it was female how..................? "rolleyes2

Wild Irish,
what a stange location to be hit by a deer. I live in southern NJ and work in Lakehurst in the middle of Pine Barrens. This time of year deer are slaming into cars on route 70 like linebackers on quarterbacks in an NFL football game. EIther that was a doe, a yearling or you got very lucky. Have several friends that have had thier cars totaled by a late hit out of bounds from a big buck. . |
Sorry about the accident, PF, but I, too, am thankful you weren't hurt. I've hit a few animals over the years, but never had any damage done to our car. Thank heavens.
I'm the kind that slows down and avoids even hitting a squirrel darting across in front of me; or, a duck waddling along the street if it's at all possible. |
Very glad you weren't hurt. Shouldn't be too much of a much to get that fixed.

That is what you get, ya ole' cock blocker!

My deer hit was better. Jumped in front of me and I hit it with the driver side front corner of my car. My car is still driving (though I really think it fucked up my transmission). Personally, I'd just hit a junk yard and find a door. They aren't that hard to replace.

Deer are EVIL creatures that want nothing more than to plow into your car. I live in a town where there are almost more deer than people and have known so many people who have been assaulted by these animals. The only time I've ever had to use my anti-lock brakes was to keep from smashing into a deer.
PF, I'm very happy you are OK. :x: |
I took out a kangaroo in my Mitsubishi van, a pheasant coucal the first distance drive in the RAV4, and a kite (about the size of a bald eagle) which took off my driverside mirror. I regularly hit dragon lizards which scoot out in front of me. I don't swerve.
I'm an eco-terrorist. |
