Some numbers
copied from my blog:
Up at 0430. Into the polling place by 0600. Out by 2030 (14+1/2 hour shift this time). 2473 registered voters in my precinct. 1756 votes cast in person, of which only 19 provisional. Unknown number of first-time voters, but many. Votes cast does not count absentee ballots from the precinct. Maximum wait at this polling place seemed to be on the order of 1/2 hour, according to the random voters we asked at check-in. Heavy turnout, relatively long lines until 10:30/11:00, then mostly a steady trickle the rest of the day with little to no wait. Oh, edit: oldest voter in my precinct was born in 1912. |

I knew we could count on gekko.

I'm lucky when it comes to things like this, I live in a town of about 600 people so there's not much of a chance that a line could ever be more than maybe 10 minutes to vote. That would only be because we grabbed a cup of coffee and were talking about how Mabel is doing in the hospital or whether or not the high school football team will win a game next season.
And yet, I still went to the courthouse to vote early last week. |
