...then picture that I started dating your cousin and I went out with her for 4 years, lived together - the works. We haven't seen each other for 2 years because you now work overseas. We weren't close-close but we hung out and have mutual friends.

Now you are getting married, you know that I have a partner...do you invite me and your cousin to the wedding, just the cousin and not me or me and not the cousin.

I'm with Steph! Depends on how big the wedding will be as to how far out of my close circle of family and friends I'd extend invitations. When I got married......we paid for the wedding ourselves....and so there had to be a cut off point. There will be angry people no matter where that cut off point is! If you and "cousin" are just beyond the limit (didn't make the cut), try not to be resentful......at least till you know the reason why you didn't get an invite. Might be just a matter of money and not something more personal. If you do get an invite.......the past is the past and life has gone on....so yes, I would go and eat drink and be merry up a storm!

Going with the information as stated, there’s no dilemma for me. We were only good acquaintances from what you’ve said, and even if I wasn’t that close to my cousin, she’s still family. I’d simply ask her if she’d be uncomfortable if I invited you, were the event large enough to be extended that far.
