My husband bitches every v-day and mother's day that they advertise more one way than the other. Maybe they think guys need more ideas? No that can't be it because they advertise the same shit every year. I could use some ideas though. Then again, I could use a day off. That's what I'm wishing for this valentine's day!

I think........if they could (the same people who made up Secretaries Day........because, pardon me......but I've never had a "Seamstress Day"!!!!!!)..........they'd make "Groundhogs Day".....(February 2)....in some way, shape or form.....a day where we'd HAVE to buy something for someone in our lives that has either....run over a groundhog and didn't bury it...shot a groundhog and ate it...or saw a groundhog once when they were a youngster...or whateverthefuck!!!!!!!!!!! But they can't make that day a practical day to tug at your heart strings......so they made up a lot of other days to make up for the loss in revenue!!!!

I am so "sick up and fed" (my own personal saying for being fed up and sick and tired) with these commercials bombarding us with what to buy and how much to spend on it and blah, blah blah!!!!!

So....in essence.....I can see your point Aqua. BUT......the guys that hold the "goodies" KNOW......you guys are on the ropes! They are tugging at your heartstrings as a reminder that you might lack the appropriate appreciation throughout the year. If you happen to fall into that category.....you'll get the guilt and fall for the ads and spend entirely too much just to appease your own conscience!

So.....I say.....don't blame the advertisers! I think they are geniuses! Supply and demand is the name of the game!

As for me.........since it is an official holiday and hubby never was the romatic type......I said, "Hey! We need a filter on our kitchen tap".........and I let him rest in peace!!!!! LOL! Anything above and beyond that is the cherry on the cake of our day!

P.S. I always get him something......and this year it's wood! Um.....well....actual tree product that is......and the wood will [cum] to him in the morning before he goes out to the barn to play with his tree product!

OMG! Shutting up now!

Valentines Day,like alot of holidays,has become too commercialised.It's the THOUGHT that counts.My wife & I,don't have,alot,of money.It doesn't sound very romantic,but we decided
,long ago,to decide on our own presents, rather then buy something, out of obligation.Plus,if we really, want something during the year,we buy it.We have been together long enough,to
know that the other won't "waste"money. Our daughters, are in
their 30s,but every year,I still get them a large candy"heart"box,
& a card.They know that it's just from me!I have never missed a year.They know that,no matter what,we can always depend on
each other & that's the way that I want it.Family is VERY important
to me!I may be ruining my image but those of you that have known me,for along time, know that I say-"Who Cares?" Irish

I heard another commercial that did not sit well with me today...
The narrator describes a couple things 'she' has done for 'you', so you OWE her. They actually say that. You owe her, so pay up with a valentines gift... send her to a beauty salon.

I'd rather be sent to pick up that beautiful happenis card in person!! ;) :D
